On July 4th, a police station spokesperson in Makhachkala, Georgia, confirmed on Facebook that a female colleague had received threatening phone calls over the past few hours. In a statement released earlier, the station's spokesperson, Adriya Sajunova, described the calls as "very, very vicious, very scary and very frightening".
However, the exact timing of the call has never been established.
"At this point the police have not found the girl yet," a spokesperson for the police in the Makhachkala metro said in a statement, adding that she was working at an automated phone company and received the call in mid-May.
At around 1pm, Makhachkala police confirmed that they had received "threats.
In a tweet shortly after the tweet was posted, another Makhachkala station spokesperson tweeted "the situation is getting worse".
The Makhachkala Police Department confirmed earlier to BuzzFeed News the exact number of calls the spokesperson received, but added instead that police would be checking the social media accounts of "any person who contacts us to report suspicious activity. Any person in the vicinity can report suspicious activity to the local police force by calling 911."
Sajunova, who was not on duty on July 4, told BuzzFeed News that officers had no other plans this morning to investigate
